Columbia, IL

We are staying with a friend in Columbia, IL (not to be confused with Columbia, MO). It seems by the maps that we will be in the path of totality. Can anyone confirm that? What would be the benefit of driving south 30 miles to get to the centerline?

HI –
You will get 57 more seconds of totality on the centerline.  Once you see totality, you will know that those 30 miles were worth it!!!!
